Overview on Harmony
This overview provides a bit more orientation regarding the harmony that is to be shared by Jew and Gentile. The Thesis page will outline more detail along with references to some of the articles located in the Harmony Area.
Remarkably, no one initially asked you if you wanted to be alive—but here you are!
A start to life is a completely open proposition as to what you might choose to be. As you grow and experience life all kinds of questions and situations present themselves. These all flow into your life like what you see streaming thorough a personal window.
So … what do you see? Might this relate to life possibly having a purpose and what you will decide in response!
One key element here is Hebrew scriptural roots in support of a specific kind of faith and evidence that is sometimes glossed over or not clearly presented—to Jew or Gentile. This is where the window provides added insight. The Harmony Area is intended for all—including those who have not yet read the Scriptures.
To be clear, this is a plain language somewhat simple overview, but hopefully somewhat unique and easy to view. Admittedly there are numerous sources available for deeper study, but sometimes too much detail is more than necessary to get the real ‘take home’ understanding! So some simple key points are emboldened to share something significant and applicable to all of us!
Chosen People Given Instructions
While the Scriptures address origins of the universe, Earth, humans, and initial relationships that all are geared to understanding God’s intentions and will, a starting point here is to recognize a selection of a specific set of human beings.
Simply put, the Hebrew people where chosen for a purpose. The fact that they were selected thousands of years ago and still exist today is a vital component to what the Scriptures outline for the past, to what is the present day, and what is yet to come. Their purpose and how they were to live by a set of laws is described in detail in the initial books of the Hebrew Scriptures.
The Land
Once chosen, the Hebrew (Jewish) people move through the wilderness with a specific geographic destination in mind. Ha Eretz, the Land, Israel was the destination that had already been described previously to Abraham. Again, simply put, from the past to the present day the concept that Israel is an important part of the the storyline of what is to come in the future and is totally reinforced by the reality of Jews occupying the Land today.
While there is so much in the news, various opinions, controversies, conflicts, diverse global events, and what may seem to make Israel just one small aspect of humanity’s life on Earth, Israel’s reestablishment in 1948 opened the door to moving forward with a biblical timeline for biblical events yet to come.
The Messiah’s Identification
Along the timeline, from the establishment of scriptural texts recorded by Moses, prophets, and others, there are numerous scriptural references to who the Jewish Messiah will be and specifically when He will first appear. Two examples include Daniel’s writing that outlines a riddle of 70 weeks of 7 years and how that specifies exactly when Messiah will appear (Daniel 9:24). The prophet Isaiah writes an account of Messiah’s identity (Isaiah 52:13-53) and His purpose to be with humanity for a time in the future long after Isaiah lived.
What Daniel and Isaiah wrote are just a couple examples of how the Hebrew Scriptures describe Messiah and His future role and events that are linked to Messiah in the future. Today, Jews who have been uncertain can read these writings and find a means to identify their Messiah. A growing community of Jewish Messianic believers is a sign that some significant changes are arriving as is expected by what is written in Scriptures recorded in Greek.
Messiah’s Instruction
The Hebrews were initially given the Law as recorded by Moses. The Mosaic Law is today still embraced by many Jews around the world, but these would likely be people who have yet to identify the Messiah and read the Brit Chadeshah (the New Covenant Scriptures) written in Greek texts that describe Messiah’s days and teachings while on Earth.
What is significant is that the Messiah simplified what Moses reported as the Law and then Messiah’s Law and teachings open up to all Jews and Gentiles. Messiah delivers a new approach to addressing sin by His sacrifice in place of former Temple sacrifices with lambs and the new covenant—this covenant is even given reference by Jeremiah 31:31–this is applicable to both Jew and Gentile.
The Decision Life Requests of You
The lengthy study of Scriptures reveals that the issue of sin from the very first person (Adam) persists to this day and in you, too. The Mosaic Law lays out details as to what sin is and how is committed. To be alleviated and reduced from consequences of sinning, the sacrifice of a lamb at the Temple in Jerusalem covered up sin but for only one year. Messiah’s sacrifice as the Lamb of God and acceptance of relationship with Messiah helps to cover sin in your life with His one time sacrifice.
WindowView Areas Lead to Convergence
As noted in the introduction, there are many articles in the Harmony Area that touch on information that is not often encountered as is presented here. Hopefully helpful and eye opening and added perspective that expand a current understanding with interesting insight and relevant information. This has some Jewish and Gentile perspectives that add to an appreciation for what is in the Scriptures.
Overall, repeatedly, there is the mention of something coming in the future. The End Times is a scenario detailed by prophets and reference to helpful books that are easy to read about the future chronology of events and consequences for non-believers is cited at the end of the Thesis page.
Next Steps
The Jewish Messiah is a focal point of importance for many external reasons, because affirming his identity puts to rest a number of contentious opinions. In a Hebrew context, the entire scriptural framework takes on a Messianic context not always obvious to the casual reader—Jew and Gentile alike. We will simply note here that a Jewish person who accepts Messiah as identified, remains Jewish. For the Gentiles the opportunity to build a relationship with Messiah is always open to everyone—now with the fullness of the added Hebraic context.
The Thesis page highlights articles as nuggets of biblical information, that speak to a greater purpose that concerns knowing God's will and reason for opening up a potential relationship between you and God! Identity, time, and relationship characterize the content the window reveals in the Harmony Area.
