Significant Examples for Change on Earth

There are two key perspectives here ... what science can tell us and what the Bible provides in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures. We are saying these are vital information sources to be viewed. Drop assumptions and take a look. An underlying consistency in scripture, from older to newer texts, tells us there was always a view to what will come in the future. Some of what the daily news tells us is either coincidence or consequence to human activities ... or both ... but some of the change we see falls in line with what the Bible is saying. That brings the projections of anticipated events into the present era, today, into your lifetime. To see what is not merely coincidence is to see 'Science and Scripture in Harmony.'

Change is a signal, an alarm, and indicator. The data for change are scientific and scriptural ...

Global Warming's Terrifying New Math
Three simple numbers that add up to global catastrophe - and that make clear who the real enemy is

July 19, 2012 9:35 AM ET - Rolling Stone
If the pictures of those towering wildfires in Colorado haven't convinced you, or the size of your AC bill this summer, here are some hard numbers about climate change: June broke or tied 3,215 high-temperature records across the United States. That followed the warmest May on record for the Northern Hemisphere – the 327th consecutive month in which the temperature of the entire globe exceeded the 20th-century average, the odds of which occurring by simple chance were 3.7 x 10-99, a number considerably larger than the number of stars in the universe. ... Rare Burst of Melting Seen in Greenland’s Ice Sheet

New York Times
In a scant four days this month, the surface of Greenland’s ice sheet melted to an extent not witnessed in 30 years of satellite observations, NASA reported on Tuesday. On average, about half of the surface of the ice sheet melts during the summer. But from July 8 to July 12, the ice melt expanded from 40 percent of the ice sheet to 97 percent, according to scientists who analyzed the data from satellites deployed by NASA and India’s space research institute. ... Islanders refuse to abandon homes, despite rising sea levels

Climatewire, July 25, 2012
Settlers on the French island of Isle de Sein aren't used to losing.
They've successfully weathered famines, floods, two cholera epidemics and even a Nazi occupation, only to be confronted with what could be an even bigger threat: climate change. Rising sea levels could finally do in the 138-acre isle.
"There is a growing probability that the island may be hit by a bigger-than-usual storm," said Denis Bredin, who is part of the government office that is charged with protecting seacoasts in Brittany and based in the nearby port city of Brest. "We know that it will happen, but we can't say when." ...
Ocean waters have been rising 0.14 inch a year globally since the early 1990s, and the island is just 5 feet above sea level on average. ...

Change from a Scripture Perspective:

ARAB SPRING Pictured in Isaiah

Over two millennium ago Isaiah pictured the demise of Damascus in a way that rings true today. All of a sudden in weeks and months, the city is pulled down to a heap. This change appears in light of other anticipated scriptural events.
17:1* ¶ The burden against Damascus. “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap.
2* The cities of Aroer are forsaken; They will be for flocks Which lie down, and no one will make them afraid.
3* The fortress also will cease from Ephraim, The kingdom from Damascus, And the remnant of Syria; They will be as the glory of the children of Israel,” Says the LORD of hosts.

IRANIAN LEADERSHIP Vows an End to Israel

Many students of the Scriptures understand that in time 'nations' will turn against Israel. Since the birth of the modern state of Israel there have been many claims to the land by many peoples. In the mean time, Israel has prospered as a religious and secular state. For example, the vow by Iranians, and others, to push Israel into the sea is not new, but recent events in Egypt, Syria, and Iran loom large ... as if to say the saber rattling is over, war is on its way. The God of Israel intends that conflict to be a demonstration to all nations. The stage is set, the bible anticipates what will come:

Ezekiel 38:16* “You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.”

PUTTING The FACETS of CHANGE TOGETHER

GLOBAL CHANGE in a 'Science to Scripture context' works to describe the larger picture and overall defines a growing human dilemma. Global effects are so extensive we must consider our life support in terms of food security, availability of fresh water, stable settings for living environments, cities, homes, and ecological and agricultural zones. We live in a MATRIX of CHANGE. It's inescapable!

Look at the newspaper, see the evening news, and consider change on a global scale beyond climate issues, political polarity, or economic unrest. Then ask yourself: Is anyone really able to coordinate a global response? There are signs of action locally, but the problems still grow globally. Humanity is not responding in unison. The science community knows how dim our prospects are without global response. Theologians understand why this happens—the cause lies within our existence in the flesh. All this is the backdrop to scriptural themes that are now being played out on Earth.

The importance to global change is in looking at how social, biological, and physical sciences all reveal data and signs for more ominous changes in the near future. This is change in every aspect of human and earthly affairs ... globally. The Window looks further to see change as a backdrop to a biblical timeline. Driving forces for change force us to ask the most important questions about our true origin, who we are, why we are here, and what the Scriptures tell us about the future. Change forces us to look deeper to face choice or crisis. Life is an opportunity to look for the answers.
